Probing new methods and concepts in organic synthesis and homogeneous catalysis

During the first part of this lecture the concept of a « Catalyst-Directing-Group » (CDG) in Organic Synthesis is introduced and recent results on regio- and stereocontrolled hydroformylation and copper-mediated allylic substitution are presented. A new approach towards deoxypropionates relying on iterative directed syn-allylic substitution will be shown and its efficiency will be demonstrated in the course of natural product synthesis.

The second part of the talk will focus on a new concept in order to build chelating ligand libraries for combinatorial homogeneous catalysis based on self-assembly of monodentate ligands through hydrogen-bonding. A self-assembly platform based on an A-T base pair analogue will be presented.
